Dr. Mark Maxwell grew up in Newport Beach, graduating from Corona del Mar High School. He attended the University of California, Irvine graduating with honors in biology. He graduated dental school from the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Maxwell received a master's degree in oral biology with his dissertation in TMJ (jaw joint) dysfunction from the University of Louisville and his certificate in orthodontics in 1994.
Dr. Maxwell proudly served our country in the armed forces for over 20 years as a general dentist and orthodontist. During his military career he lived throughout the United States and abroad and held numerous staff and teaching positions. In 2003, Dr. Maxwell retired from the army at the rank of LTC and joined Dr. David V. Bates in private practice in Newport Beach.
Dr. Maxwell is happy to have returned to his hometown of Newport Beach and is very active in the community. He sponsors community schools, events and athletic programs. Dr. Maxwell participates with Share a Smile and Sheepfold charities. Helping underprivileged children/women of Orange County, one smile at a time.
Dr. Maxwell has served as a member of the Orange County Dental Society as delegate, secretary and was most recently nominated to the office of Vice President. He has earned the nomination of his peers for the last two consecutive years as one of Newport Beach’s “Top Dentist” as published in Coast Magazine.
Dr. Maxwell strives for orthodontic excellence and is passionate about his work. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Tracy and their children, Justin, Jake, Alec and Amy. His hobbies include: Cycling, running, swimming, any thing involving the ocean, and of course his children’s sports of soccer, gymnastics and the Balboa Island Yacht Club.

ABOUT DR. PAUL SOKOLOWSKI, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Sokolowski is a Board Certified Orthodontist. He Graduated from the University of Southern California with his Bachelors of Science degree in Psychobiology, with departmental honors. He attended the University of Southern California graduating from the School of Dentistry. He received his Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Southern California in 2003. He lives in Irvine with his wife Dr. Rita Daghlian and their twin sons Jake and Nicholas.

Dr. Bates established the practice in 1989. He retired in 2007.
